My story with The Lazy Dreamers (II)

So, today I continue with my little trip down memory lane to keep telling you about TLD. The first episode ended with three of us, Max, Vladi and I, already performing as The Lazy Dreamers. Today's episode is about how three became four and the the sky became the limit.

June 2014. Bo, one of the organizers of a summer music festival called Dawn, came to the Herzt to see Max and I and to invite us to take part in it. We didn't hesitate, but we wanted to put up a great show, and we needed drums for that (bass was already covered, we just threw one at Vladi and he said "oh, ok"), so I turned to my spiritual brother and producer Teddy Strings (kind of a household name in Dalian, at the time singer and guitarist of the one and only Afroband, a banging producer and the personification of good vibes) for help with the problem.

"Yes, I'll drum for you", he said. I didn't even know he could play drums, but I knew the kind of musician he is, so, again, I didn't hesitate. And so the four-piece band was established. And Teddy didn't let us down. He and Vladi as rhythm section gave The Lazy Dreamers the groove we needed. We didn't have much time for practice, so the original plan was for Vladi and Teddy to join Max and I just for a couple of songs during the set, but once the four of us were together on stage there was no turning back, so we jammed our way through the rest of the set, and it was AWESOME! The pics from the event are courtesy of Moses (bass guitarist of the Afroband and great photographer) and Maddy (the best event organizer in town).

That was just the first of a good many amazing gigs with The Lazy Dreamers. I went to bed feeling I had touched the sky that night, and I wanted more of that. My year in China was almost over, but it was clear to me one year only was not gonna do, specially as my band was still gonna be in China...
