My story with The Lazy Dreamers (III)

At the end of last chapter, The Lazy Dreamers had played their first gig as a four piece band. It was a great start, and it was an unforgettable gig, but for one of us being a Lazy Dreamer was not meant to be a long-term thing.

Teddy Strings was really busy at the time with his own band, his solo project and his collaborations with other musicians as a producer, so it was clear to me he didn't have the time to get involved in building a new band practically from scratch. Regretfully, as having him around is always a joy, form both the personal and musical point of view, Teddy and I agreed that it would be best if TLD found a new fourth member. The show must go on, and it did, but The Lazy Dreamers will never forget Teddy and his contribution at that most difficult early stage.

Counting on Vladi's many talents, it was not so much about finding a new drummer as it was about finding the right person, with the right energy, and whatever this person could play, then Vladi would play whatever else was needed. It didn't take very long, really, we just looked around for that energy, and we had it right there in the shape of An Hyo Kyong, Max's roomy.

He was obviously into music, he was a very accomplished student and could play some guitar, and on top of everything, he was about the nicest guy on he face of the Earth, so there was no way around it, it was perfect. One evening, while hanging out in Max's room, he found himself pointed at and officially appointed as our new bass player, I don't even think we actually asked him whether he agreed or not, haha!

Even though bass wasn't originally his instrument, the transition to this new set up was seamless thanks to his own effort and, of course, Vladi's ability on the drums (which, as it turns out, it's the first instrument he started learning, so it's not like he can drum a little to save the day, no, the man IS a drummer). After a very early first gig on campus for the Cultural Festival, the band quickly started playing venues around the city every weekend, and for as long as that lasted, if felt like we were living a dream. Let me give you some visuals.

So that pretty much sums up the school year 2014-2015 for The Lazy Dreamers. More to come soon.
