My story with The Lazy Dreamers (IV)

After TLZ's line-up was finally settled on Max (Russia, lead guitar), Vladi (Macedonia, drums), H (Korea, bass) and Elena (Spain, rhythm guitar and vocals), the band quickly became part of the (modest) music scene of the city of Dalian and for a good year and a half there were plenty of opportunities to perform, in and out of campus.
It's only fair to mention the support we got from the School of International Education at Dalian University of Technology, which seemed keen to use our band and our image as a promotional tool. We played on countless occasions in front of large crowds of enthusiastic Chinese college students who didn't know how or why those four foreigners were playing such loud music on their campus but seemed to enjoy it just the same.
However, one of the things that I am the most grateful to the school for is the MV they made for our original song Confucius, which I started working on only a couple of weeks into my Chinese experience in early 2013. The song finally came together with the whole band's contribution around one year later.
My life pretty much revolved around the band for those couple of years. We practiced two or three times a week and performed another two or three times; it was intense but that's the way to get a band tight: play play play! And if was all fun fun fun... all the more on special occasions like holidays and such. Halloween was always a blast.
We also started recording our songs. First we recorded four tracks at a studio for an EP called The Dream (you can have a listen, just click on it), and later went on to record a few more songs by ourselves (again relying on Vladi's skills with musical software) with the idea of releasing an LP which would include the four from the EP. The album should be ready to be launched sometime this year, and it'll be our posthumous album, haha! I'll keep you posted on that.
Well, this is breaking my heart all over again.... It happens every time I start reminiscing about the band. What happened eventually was no surprise, as graduation came for some earlier than others and life had to continue, we knew it from the start. H an Max are no longer in Dalian, Vladi and I are still here, still making music together, but no longer performing. I'm lucky that he's still around and the final disintegration can be postponed for another year.
Of course, we had on epic last gig, and of course it was at Herzt bar. Take a look.
The Lazy Dreamers was a dream come true, but it only lasted so long. Nevertheless, as much as it hurts to miss having the guys around, and performing and making music with them, I am still lucky to have had the chance to experience it all. I'm gonna finish this saga with my favorite picture of The Lazy Dreamers. I love you guys.
